Holy criminy, my friends weren't kidding when they said Starbucks here was OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive...even by Starbucks standards. It's almost 6 bucks for a tall (that a small for you non-Starbucks drinkers, if any of you even exist lol), for TEA. Yes I said TEA. Like the kind that should be about 2 bucks for a venti.
They also strangely have what they call "sweet and salty" options for almost all the main drinks like cafe mocha and hot chocolate. I thought at first it was like the salted caramel drink they offer in the fall (which is delicious btw, I highly recommend it if you have time to go to the gym later heh). But it's an option for a bunch of staple drinks. I figured I should try it since I'm here and got the sweet and salty mocha. It was utterly DELICOUS. I am addicted, which is bad because it very expensive. At least it's huge lol. It's like sweet and rich but has this little salty edge on the outside of the sweet. It's similar to the salted caramel but at the same time not. Yum.
It could just be me and my being used to the tiny drinks they give you in normal Korean coffee houses, but the grande here looks a lot bigger than the ones in America...in fact, grande is the biggest size they offer. DO YOU HEAR THAT SUPER-SIZE ME-ECONOMY-SIZE EVERYTHING-OBESE AMERICA? They stop at grande while we go two steps FURTHER into venti and bucket-size. Sorry, I meant treinta. The terms are synonymous... -.-
On this disgustingly deceptively fine day, it is freezing cold for the first time since my arrival. It's ridiculously windy outside, like GALES of freezing, blustering wind. I finally ended up having to dig a beanie out of my purse AND put my hair in a braid so it didn't fly everywhere and make me look like Cousin IT walking around. I'm grateful I bought that peacoat the other day because its coming in real handy now! Even with that, long boots, gloves, a sweater, a shirt, and a scarf it's bone-chilling walking around. I think I'll just spend the day around Gangnam today, since sightseeing or exploring foreign parts of Seoul today might not be as fun in the cold and this absurd wind...
